I come here once a week to proudly get ripped off by the merchants. As soon as they hear an accent, the price goes up exponentially. Like something that is supposed to be 500 Uganda Shillings becomes 1000 Uganda Shillings. When you threaten to walk away, the price goes back down, closer to the actual asking price. When you insist on paying what Ugandans pay, the merchants look at you as if you are stealing money right out of their pocket. I have however located the Acholi vendors and have started asking for fruits and vegetables in Acholi. Slowly but surely, I’m getting there.
