Meeting Stakeholders

Over the last couple of weeks, I have been sitting down with NGOs in Gulu to get a better idea of the post-conflict psychosocial programs that have been offered to the community.  I was surprised to find that many NGOs are in the process of unwinding their programs.  The war is over and most pathology is now tied to micro-social factors such as poverty, lacking infrastructure or access to resources.  Working at Gulu Referral Hospital, I will have access to a broad range of clients.  Former child soldiers are only a small population within the mental health unit.    It will be interesting to see if PTSD related to war substantially differs from pathology borne out of poverty.  A critical inquiry begins…
